Towns of Smolensk region

Sichevka

The town Sichevka is situated at a distance of 234 km to the North-East of Smolensk, on the railway Vjazma-Rzhev. It was first mentioned as a village in 1478. It became a town in 1776.

Sichevka is a birthplace of the public thinker F.I. Podshivalov, the legendary partisan Vasilisa Kozhina, the hero of the Civil War in 1812 V.I. Timofeev and the archeologist D.A. Avdusin. This place is popular among the lovers of active kinds of sport. Here there flows the right tributary of the Volga – the river Vazuza. The Dnieper begins at a distance of 8 km from Village Bocharovo.

Tourists get a lot of information after the visit to the museum of regional studies, which works since 1919..
