On November 26, there was a presentation of the investment potential of the Smolensk region for the Embassy of the French Republic in Russia that took place at the conference hall Swissotel in Moscow. Governor Sergey Antufiev, minister-counsellor of the Embassy of France in Russia Marie Masdupuis, representatives of French business community, and the chiefs of enterprises of the Smolensk region participated in the presentation.
Greeting the Smolensk delegation, Marie Masdupuis marked that the Smolensk region is France’s nearest region of Russia. Madame Masdupuis expressed confidence of the fact that French enterprises would take an interest in the Smolensk region.

| [5.11.2010] | THE SMOLENSK LAND IS THE LAND OF THE PATRIARCH |
The forthcoming 1150th anniversary of Smolensk became one of the main themes of the joint exposition of the Administration of the Smolensk region and Smolensk eparchy of Russian Orthodox Church displayed at the IX All Russian exhibition-forum ‘Orthodox Russia - to the National Unity Day’. Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Cyril, Minister of Culture of Russia Alexander Avdeev, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Russia Sergey Stepashin, the heads of the regions, the clergy of Russian Orthodox Church and other confessions participated in the opening ceremony in the central exhibition hall ‘Mange’. Over 300 church organizations and temporal organizations from Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Georgia, Cyprus, Israel, Turkmenia and Kazakhstan held their expositions at the exhibition timed to the state holiday and religious celebration - the National Unity Day’ and the Kazan icon of the Mother of God.

There was a solemn ceremony at Tauride Palace (Tavrichesky dvorets) in St. Petersburg. That was the ceremony of opening of the exhibition-presentation of the investment potential of the Smolensk region.
All the present got to know the economical prospects of the Smolensk region: Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreychenko, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Supreme Council of Ukraine) Vladimir Litvin, Chairman of the Majilis of Kazakhstan Ural Mukhamedzhanov, representatives of Parliaments of different countries.

| [29.10.2010] | SERGEY ANTUFIEV DISCUSSED THE ASPECTS OF INTERREGIONAL COOPERATION WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF THE UKRAINE RADA |
Governor of the Smolensk region Sergey Antufiev held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Ukraine Rada Vladimir Litvin in St. Petersburg.
The parties discussed the questions of the interregional cooperation of the two states as about 20% of the common bilateral trade falls on frontier trade.
Sergey Antufiev informed his interlocutor of the project of the cooperation agreement between the Smolensk region and the Zhitomir region that had already been worked out. Moreover, the work at the preparation of the similar agreements with the Kherson region and Chernigov region was still in progress.
